Born to Charles and Ruth Crawford Seeger in New York City in 1933, Mike grew up in Maryland and Washington, DC along side his sister, Peggy and half brother, Pete, both folk musicians. In 1958, Mike Seeger co-founded the old time string band The New Lost City Ramblers with John Cohen and Tom Paley. Mike Seeger has received six Grammy nominations and four grants from the National Endowment of the Arts.
